A 21-year-old Brighton man was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for child abuse, according to court records.
Luke Sementelli was charged in July with one count of second-degree child abuse and two counts of third-degree child abuse after police say he abused his girlfriend’s baby.
“The child was pushed down on the floor three times, causing him to strike his head, and then shaken feverishly by his mother’s live-in boyfriend,” police said previously.
In July the then 14-month-old child was reported to be in critical condition. The child’s current condition has not been released.
Sementelli pleaded guilty as charged inn March. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to recommend a 5 ½ year prison sentence.
On April 9, he was sentenced to a minimum of 66 months and up to 10 years in prison, according to court records.
