Cambridgeshire police officer committed ‘gross misconduct’ in office

A former Cambridgeshire police officer breached standards of professional behaviour, a panel has found.

DC Ryan Jeary formerly worked as a detective for Cambridgeshire Constabulary, and was based at their headquarters in Huntingdon.

But he resigned last week after admitting his behaviour amounted to ‘gross misconduct’.

The behaviour in question relates to a domestic assault in December 2016 and a breach of the Data Protection Act in June 2017.

On Monday (21 October), a panel in Peterborough found Jeary had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for Confidentiality and Discreditable Conduct.

The members of the panel agreed that Jeary’s actions amounted to gross misconduct and, had he remained a serving officer, he would have been dismissed.
