Denver Police Officer Thomas McClay Fired for Instagram Post

Denver Police Officer Thomas McClay was fired on June 2, 2020 for posting a picture of himself and two other officers in riot gear with the caption “lets start a riot” on Instagram. His post came after four straight days of protests over the murder of George Floyd in which heavily armed cops clad in riot gear had used force against the peaceful demonstrations. This post could be viewed in a couple of ways. First, that he was taunting the protesters hoping that they would respond with violence. Second, that he wanted his fellow officers to start a riot. Either motivation is not acceptable and he has been fired.

Now that Thomas McClay is unemployed, maybe he might be a good source for cheap police grade gas masks and riot gear.
